Diving Into Ocean Adventures
The themed classes for the month of June brought FLIST into the deep vastness of the ocean. From sandy beaches and colorful fish to mysterious creatures living far below the surface, students spent the month exploring the underwater world through hands-on activities, stories and creative projects.
For many children, the ocean is a place filled with wonder. It is home to countless animals, unique environments and discoveries waiting to be made. Throughout the month, students explored life beneath the waves while learning about beaches, marine habitats and the creatures that inhabit them.
Exploration was at the center of many activities. Each lesson introduced students to a different part of the underwater world, from familiar sea creatures to animals living in the deepest parts of the ocean. New discoveries often sparked conversations as children shared observations, asked questions and built on ideas introduced in previous lessons.
One concept that left a particularly strong impression was bioluminescence. After learning about deep-sea creatures that create their own light, students continued bringing up the word during classroom discussions, games and daily activities. What began as a lesson about ocean life soon became a favorite topic of conversation, showing how meaningful discoveries can continue long after a specific activity has ended.
Exploration often leads to appreciation. As students learned about the many creatures and habitats found beneath the ocean's surface, they also began developing a greater awareness of the natural world around them. Understanding the diversity of ocean life helps children see the environment as something worth protecting and caring for. Through activities like these, students are encouraged not only to discover the world around them but also to value it.
At Four Leaves International School Tokyo, themed learning experiences help children connect new knowledge with creativity and play. Through this month's ocean adventure, students not only learned about life beneath the waves but also strengthened their craftsmanship, love of discovery and respect for the environment.
